Most of us think of traditional design when we think of a floral rug. After all floral area rugs have been produced for centuries in most cultures. However, these days, alongside the traditional patterns you will also find many new contemporary designs for floral rugs featuring large bold flowers and colors. So, if you would like a floral area rug for your modern living room or bedroom, you should not have to look far. Also, if your other half objects to too much in the way of flowers (as mine does) then you will often find that the contemporary designs appeal more to them.
As with most rugs, floral rugs vary very much in quality of construction and materials. If you are looking for a cheap floral rug for your floor then there are plenty of rugs around. Just make sure that the rug you choose is not so thin that it wrinkles on the floor and creates a tripping hazard.
If you want your rug to last quite a few years, it is better to pay a bit more and look at the many floral wool rugs around. They will look good year after year and keep their beautiful colors. They are often hand tufted too and although a bit more expensive than the machine made rugs, they are worth it.
When looking at the variety of floral rugs for sale think about how the colors will work with the existing colors in your room (or the colors you have decided on). This can be tricky when your rug contains five or six different shades but you can often tie in some of the colors with simple accessories such as cushions. If you have a blank canvas, however, lucky you, and you can start with the perfect floral rug and design your room from there.
