Large Area Rugs for Sale

Buying a large area rug can be tricky as many stores find such large items difficult to stock and display. You may not find a great selection if you go shopping in a carpet store or department store with a carpet department, although you will usually find a few rugs to choose from. In most stores, however, you will find samples of large area rugs for sale. This means that you can order larger sizes of one of the much smaller floor rugs on display. This can give you a good idea of the quality of the rug, the colors and how it will look on your floor even if you cannot see the whole thing.

If you look on the web you will find a number of sites selling large and extra large area rugs and generally a much bigger selection to choose from than you will find in a carpet or department store in your local area. The only problem with that is that you cannot handle the rug.

When deciding which rug to purchase, remember that quality counts for a lot in very large area rugs as so much of your floor will be covered by the rug and it will be visible from everywhere in your room. That is not to say that you have to pay the earth, you will find many sites selling large area rugs cheap. Just don’t go too cheap. It is better to find a quality rug at a discount and with free shipping than to choose one that is too cheap in the first place. If you can, buy a large wool rug as wool generally (although not always) signifies higher quality than artificial fibers such as polypropylene.

As the rug will be covering a large area of the floor, think twice about choosing a very dominant pattern, no matter how striking you find it, as it will seem to “take over” the room. If you have a huge loft apartment where it will not cover most of the floor, such a rug is ideal however as it will create a great focal point. In this case look at large round area rugs as well as the more usual rectangular shape as a round rug really focuses the eye.

Traditional Red Area Rug (Click Image for Details)As for color and design, the more of the floor your rug covers, the more subtle the color and pattern ought to be. Neutral flooring is the best backdrop for the other items in the room. That is not to say that your rug cannot be beautiful. There are some wonderful soft oriental patterned rugs as well as more contemporary ones which will add distinction to your floor without grabbing your attention by the throat as soon as you walk into the room. In general, the smaller and more regular the pattern the more subtle the rug whether you are looking for a pale beige rug or a dark red one. If the design is contemporary choose a paler color whereas with a large traditional area rug in Persian or Oriental style you can choose a much deeper color and the rug will still work as a neutral.

I really really like area rugs, yet My partner and i haven’t yet shell out for a really nice one. I got myself a number of rugs from Target several months ago realizing that they simply wouldn’t last. My personal area rug preference leans towards the types I simply cannot find the money for at present. However I really take pleasure in reading a variety of posts about area rugs and look for different suggestions all the time. I’ve seriously been looking at narrowing my purchase towards ‘Eco -Friendly area rugs, and wonder what anybody thinks as well as what suggestions some might have.
