Pink, pink glorious pink. It is such a fun, feminine color and adds a feeling of lightheartedness to a room. And pink rugs are simply the icing on the cake (pink icing at that).
Pink is actually quite versatile however. It can be used in a subtle way when it is quite pale (by being mixed with a lot of white). In this case it could be teamed in a rug with white, cream or palest mint green to create a very feminine gentle look in an adult bedroom or nursery. Or it may be loud and “in your face” : think about hot pink rugs as the focal point in an otherwise monochrome room.
Whatever kind of pink area rugs you like, you are sure to find what you are looking for HERE and at a discount too. You will also find pink bath rugs which always look wonderful in a pure white bathroom especially if you have coordinating towels and use slate flooring or white marble tiles on the floor.
One pink rug I like you’ll see pictured on the left. It is fairly plain and simple but a wonderful hot pink color to make up for the simple design. I also saw a fantastic huge round pink shag rug there but I guess that is only if you have a lot of room to put it.There are many other ways to use pink rugs in your home. For example, smallish pink shag rugs will go well in a teen bedroom especially one with a touch of the 70s retro look and Chinese round pink rugs are a great addition to a formal living room. In this kind of rug the traditional dusky pink is mixed with a number of other colors to give a subtle effect.
Pink rugs with a large geometric pattern can be used with great effect in a modern room. In such a pattern, you will find that pink can be successfully mixed with one or two other colors such as brown or navy and in that way you avoid pink being over-feminine or “too pretty” for the family living room.
If you want a cheap solution for a young girl’s room, pink bathroom rugs can be used as a pretty bedside rug. These rugs are washable so they are ideal if your children are still at the messy stage. If they are past the messy stage try pink sheepskin rugs as a super-soft alternative or a pink shaggy raggy rug.

Is there any other SHADE of pink (such as what-we-used-to-call MAUVE???? I keep seeing that bright “hot pink” square rug with each click! Is there such a thing as a nylon (or synthetic) SHAG bath rug (round, square, long, short – whatever) ?? I have 2 gorgeous PALE pink…………….mauve, if you will…………..which are LONG shags. Nylon – almost a pearl-like finish. Only reason I’m looking now is because they are old and need to be replaced. Can you advise anything? I think I looked at 80 some-odd sites and there are NO light pink shags! Thanks so much.
Hi Jo
I found light pink shag rugs at overstock.com uk site but I can’t see the U.S. version (I’m not sure where you are). Also, I’m not sure if we are thinking f the same color as mauve to me is the same as lilac (light purple) Do you mean the blue-pink shade that is a cross between light pink and lilac? The other thing to try is the rug stockists and those offering catalogs at the back of interior design magazines. You could give them a call and see if they could help.
