Purple Bath Rugs - A Selection of the Best

Purple bath rugs are a great addition to your bathroom as purple is such a great color for bathroom accessories. It adds warmth and richness and sets off a white bathroom beautifully. A purple rug looks especially fine on white travertine flooring or slate tiles which are so popular these days for bathroom floors. If you are looking for a purple bath rug, look no further as we have a great selection here, whether you are just looking for a single rug or a whole purple bath rug set.

All of the purple rugs here are washable, of course, as that is essential for any rug you use in a bathroom and they are soft and absorbent – great to step out onto from your bath or shower. They’ll keep your bathroom floor dry at the same time as adding color.

To get the best out of your rug, hang it up to dry and air off whenever it gets a soaking – or buy two and put one in the laundry as soon as it gets wet. That way your purple rug will keep looking good in your bathroom.

Purple comes in a number of shades so you’ll find everything here from dark purple and plum bath rugs to light purple and lavender and there are a few patterned purple bathroom rugs too. Which of these is your favorite?

Purple Rugs in Every Shade, Shape and Size

There are many shades of purple and you will find purple rugs in all of them. The main thing is to work out what color purple will go best in your room before you begin your search.

A plain purple rug makes quite a statement whether it is a light purple lilac or a dark purple aubergine but one makes a very different statement from the other. The darker the color, the better it is used as an accent color in small amounts rather than becoming the main event – dark purple walls, purple carpet and purple curtains would be too much for anyone whether or not you add other shades but the same is not true of lighter shades (although a bit of variation would not go amiss there either). Purple area rugs are a great way of introducing those accent colors whether in a plain or patterned rug.

Contemporary Purple Rugs

In a contemporary living space you have a few options to introduce purple in a rug. The best solution is to install hardwood flooring or pale natural stone such as travertine tile and then to top that with a large rug. To stay contemporary the rug needs to be in a plain color with a lot of texture – look to purple shag rugs for this – or it needs to have a large geometric pattern including your chosen purple color along with one or two others. Although shag pile might seem a little retro to you (especially if you were around in its heyday in the seventies) it is now pretty much in vogue especially in materials such as pure new wool or leather (rather than synthetic faux fur!)

If you’re wondering about the existence of a leather rug. Yes, you can buy purple leather shag rugs made of tiny strips of leather or suede which would certainly make quite a statement on your floor. They are not cheap but they are very effective at giving your room a luxurious look in one fell swoop.

As for shape, if you have a large floor area which is more or less square then look at the selection of round purple rugs available. For some reason a round rug always seems to provide more of a focal point than a rectangular one.

Traditional and Romantic Rooms

If you have a traditional room then look at the softer shades of purple. Bright purple and aubergine are quite modern “in your face” shades. Although they have been around for centuries they were not generally used in furnishings being seen as royal shades (and at times as a mourning color). If you have a romantic bedroom to decorate then a light purple rug would look fantastic however. Look at the shaggy raggy rugs made of soft t-shirt fabric strips as these make great bedside rugs or look for a traditional patterned rug which teams subtle shades such as beige or mint green with lilac.

Purple Bath Rugs

With our tendency to choose white bathrooms these days and neutral flooring you need something to inject color into your room and in this case a bright color is in order. Purple bathroom rugs look great in a white bathroom especially teamed with matching towels in purple and another color (perhaps gray, black or even lime green depending on your preference.) You can choose a purple bath rug in a plain color or you will also find some modern floral or striped designs which can work well in some rooms.
