A teal rug can be a beautiful finishing touch to a room. Teal is that wonderful color which is a cross between blue and green with a little gray added to give a slightly darker shade. The name actually comes from the teal duck which has the color in a patch around its eyes. In nature (and in ducks), you will see the color goes well with brown, gray and creams and you will often see these colors reflected in interior design, with brown and teal rugs as well as teal and gray rugs being particularly popular at the moment.
Choosing a Teal Rug
Teal is quite a distinctive color when used alone and it will get a lot of attention. Always go for the best quality rug you can afford, especially if you choose a solid teal rug where there is no design to disguise any lack of quality. A wool rug is probably best although you can get some great quality synthetic rugs these days which will do you proud.
If you have a contemporary setting a teal shag rug would work well as this gives you the additional interest of texture along with the beautiful color. In a classic environment, a traditional patterned rug with a teal background will work very well especially as teal is more subtle as a background shade along with other colors and it tends to go well with the dark brown and chestnut tones of traditional wooden furniture.
If You Love Teal But…
If you have become inspired after seeing a teal area rug, but you do not want to decorate a whole room to accommodate the color, there is usually a way to include the color in your home. If you have a white bathroom with neutral walls and flooring (which most of us do), look at the range of teal bath rugs and towels available as you can easily make over your bathroom and give it a teal theme just by changing accessories. Try buying some towels in teal, some in white and some in chocolate brown and then pair them with a teal bath rug and shower curtain or bathroom curtain for a whole new look at little cost.
Where to Buy a Teal Rug
As teal is quite popular just now, you might be lucky and find a selection of teal rugs in local carpet or department stores. Obviously, these stores are limited as to how many teal area rugs they can have on display (or any other color for that matter) so you probably won’t get a great choice in patterns, colors and sizes. You will need to go online for that.
We have picked out a beautiful selection of teal rugs for sale online below so that you can see the type of rugs available, but, of course, there are many more and if you do not see your ideal teal floor rug below, try starting your search HERE where you will see a much bigger selection, many with discounts and free shipping.
